SafeScreens LLC ("SafeScreens," "we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and services.

2. Information We Collect

Personal Information

We may collect personal information that you voluntarily provide to us when you:

• Register for an account: your name and email address, handled by our sign-in provider (Clerk)
• Sign up for our newsletter: your email address
• Contact us through our contact form: your name, email address and message, which is emailed to us and not stored in a database
• Add a child profile: a name or nickname, a birth year or age group, and the devices and apps you choose to list (see Children's Privacy below)
• Use SafeScreens AI: the questions you ask and the replies, saved in your account so you can return to them
• Subscribe to the Family plan: billing is handled by Stripe; we store your subscription status and payment history, never your card number

Information Automatically Collected

When you use the site, our servers and hosting provider see your IP address and basic browser information, and we use the IP address to rate-limit forms and the AI advisor. We record the search terms entered on the site and how many results they returned, without linking them to your account. We use cookies only to keep you signed in and to keep the site working. We do not run advertising or third-party analytics cookies.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain our services
• Improve, personalize, and expand our services
• Understand and analyze how you use our services
• Develop new products, services, features, and functionality
• Send you the weekly digest and safety alerts if you have opted in; you can change this at any time in Settings or with the unsubscribe link in every email
• Find and prevent fraud

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties except in the following circumstances:

• With the service providers that run SafeScreens: Clerk (sign-in), Supabase (database), Stripe (payments), Resend (email delivery), Anthropic (processes the messages you send to SafeScreens AI in order to generate a reply) and DigitalOcean (hosting)
• To comply with legal obligations
• To protect our rights and safety
• With your consent

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. However, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information, including:

• The right to access your personal information
• The right to correct inaccurate information
• The right to delete your personal information
• The right to opt out of marketing communications
• The right to data portability

You can do most of this yourself: edit your profile and child profiles from your dashboard, and change email preferences or delete your account from Settings. Deleting your account removes your login, your profile, your child profiles, saved guides, agreements and AI conversations, and cancels any active subscription. For anything else, email [email protected].

7. Children's Privacy

Our service is designed for parents and guardians, and children may not create accounts. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Parents may enter information about their children (a name or nickname, a birth year or age group, and devices and apps). That information is provided by the parent, is used only to tailor recommendations and track setup progress within the parent's account, and is deleted when the parent deletes the child profile or the account. If you believe a child has provided us information directly, please contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
