Likee - App Safety Warning | SafeScreens

What Is Likee?

Likee is a short-video platform similar to TikTok. It allows users to create and share videos, follow creators, and interact through comments and messages. It also features live streaming, with "LIVE PK" battles, fan clubs and gifting.

Why Likee Needs Extra Care

Compared with TikTok, Likee is:

Less familiar to parents - Fewer people know its settings, so fewer safety conversations happen
Built around live streams - Real-time contact with strangers is a core feature, not a side feature
Gift-driven - Viewers send paid gifts to hosts, which rewards performing for strangers

The Live Streaming Risk

Likee's live streaming feature means:

Children can broadcast themselves to strangers
Strangers can comment in real time
Virtual gifts create a reason to keep viewers happy
Your child can't fully control who is watching
It gives adults an easy way to start a conversation with a child

Settings to Configure (If Allowing)

If you decide to allow Likee, sit down together and go through Likee's Settings:

Privacy - Make videos private and limit who can message and comment
Parental controls - Turn them on if your version of Likee offers them, and keep the password to yourself
No live streaming - Agree on it as a house rule
Location - Turn off location access for Likee in the phone's settings
Purchases - Turn off in-app purchases through Screen Time or Google Play
Followers - Look through them together now and then

Another Option

If your child wants short-video content, TikTok with Family Pairing gives you parent-side controls:

Screen time limits you set from your own phone
Control over direct messages
Restricted Mode for mature content
